Position summary:

The Manager role is a key leadership position in Infrastructure Management function of the department. The main purpose of the role is to oversee and manage Infrastructure Management activities and personnel, responsible for deployment, security and support of IT infrastructure technologies to include voice, data communication systems, local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN, WIFI) routers, switches, servers, email, virtual server infrastructure, security systems (firewalls, anti-virus systems, etc.), data centers, business continuity (i.e., backup / recovery plans / systems, disaster recovery plans /systems, hardware / firmware patching standards) for ADA University.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand all IT services currently offered by the organization and its providers;
  • Maintain up to date information systems in terms of hardware and infrastructure software;
  • Develop and coordinate implementation of standards, policies, and procedures;
  • Provide accurate and timely reports as requested / agreed with the line manager, both regular and ad hoc;
  • Supervise Infrastructure Management Engineers to ensure timely assessment, review, distribution and follow-up inquiries both in terms of maintenance/deployment of hardware and software and as Tier II agents for IT Service Desk operations; 
  • Coordinate with the Managers of IT Service Desk and Core Applications and Integration divisions;
  • Build and maintain solid and constant communication with key internal stakeholders and customers to evaluate needs and recommend / create / adjust appropriate solutions;
  • Coordinate required effort with IT staff members for Tier II and Tier III level technical support for escalated requests;
  • Supervise the quality support calls, walk-up customers, and emails for Tier II level technical support;
  • Carry out communication with business users related to organization wide activities, incidents with global impact, changes in IT infrastructure, manuals, guides and how-to’s;
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree (IT, Engineering, Computer Science) or minimum of 5-year relevant industry experience, 2 years in a similar role;
  • Solid knowledge in virtualization, servers, storage, management of communication and collaboration solutions, moderate knowledge in networking (LAN/WAN), cloud technologies and solutions, infrastructure services and solutions (MS Windows and *nix based OSs), IT security principles and solutions;
  • OSI model;
  • Troubleshooting skills;
  • Oral and written communication skills; 
  • Service-oriented;
  • Attentive to details;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to accept and perform senior leadership activities;
  • Ability to learn and apply new knowledge and methods; 
  • Able to adhere to an agreed timeline;
  • Fluent in Azerbaijani and English (desirable) languages;
  • Based on incoming incident and problem requests conducts continuous research and analysis using available resources (vendor knowledgebases, experience sharing, internal and external training, self-education) to maintain service quality to the agreed standards and make suggestions for improvement.

Additional information:

This position is specifically for managing the infrastructure aspect of the university’s IT systems, including hardware, networks, virtualization, IT security, and data centers. It is not a general IT Manager role overseeing all IT operations. Applicants should have a strong background in infrastructure technologies, systems deployment, and support.
