“European Azerbaijan School” Educational Complex LLC announces a vacancy for the position of: Librarian
Overview:
- The teacher-librarian understands and supports the mission and policies of the school. They promote the core values of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme implemented at the school. The teacher-librarian plays an important leadership role in the integration of information technologies and the promotion of a reading culture within the school.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with grade-level teams to create and implement IB inquiry units based on the guidance of the IB Coordinator.
- Lead the creation and technical management of an automated cataloging and circulation system.
- Select, procure, and organize new resources in Azerbaijani and Russian to ensure a current and balanced library collection.
- Sort, catalog, and circulate library materials; guide students and staff in the use of the library system.
- Expand access to information by using online resources and interlibrary subscriptions.
- Participate in curriculum development.
- Maintain records on circulation and collections, and provide reports when necessary.
- Oversee regular inventory of the library collection, manage the removal of outdated or damaged materials, and update the collection catalog accordingly.
- Work with school staff to prepare schedules that ensure efficient use of the library by both groups and individuals.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to design, implement, and assess instruction.
- Provide group and individual instruction in information retrieval, research strategies, and the use of resources and equipment.
- Promote reading and library use through activities such as storytelling, book talks, displays, publications, reading programs, and special events.
- Provide reader advisory and reference services to all students.
- Continuously develop professional skills related to training and librarianship by attending conferences and engaging in ongoing education opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Requirements:
- Higher education in the field of library science.
- Excellent command of the English language;
- Professional written and verbal communication skills, and creative thinking abilities;
- Proactiveness, efficiency, punctuality, and creativity;
- Ability to work in a team, deliver presentations, and conduct analysis;
