Minimum Requirements:
- Crane operation & controls – Confident operation of tower, mobile, crawler, and overhead cranes
- Load chart interpretation – Accurate assessment of weights, radii, and boom configurations
- Rigging knowledge – Proficient with slings, shackles, hooks, and load balancing
- Mechanical awareness – Ability to identify issues with hydraulics, cables, brakes, and safety systems
- Strong safety mindset – Continuous awareness of surroundings, personnel, weather, and site hazards
- Regulatory knowledge – Familiarity with OSHA, local regulations, site rules, and inspection standards
- Risk assessment – Demonstrated judgment to know when not to lift as a critical safety skill
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cranes and related equipment in a safe, precise, and efficient manner at all times
- Assemble, set up, rig, and dismantle cranes according to job and manufacturer requirements
- Function as crane operator, rigger, and signal person as required by staffing and job scope
- Determine and operate within lifting capacities in strict accordance with load charts
- Operate cranes based on written, verbal, and hand/signal instructions
- Conduct daily and periodic crane inspections, reporting any safety concerns or deficiencies
- Complete job tickets, crane inspection reports, and all required documentation accurately
- Operate additional equipment including fleet trucks, trailers, and support machinery
- Follow direction from supervisors and senior personnel while showing initiative and productivity
- Perform work for extended hours, often in adverse weather or site conditions, to meet project deadlines
- Maintain consistent, punctual attendance and a strong work ethic
- Work as a team player, fostering respectful and supportive relationships with coworkers
- Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication, cleaning, fluid sampling, replenishment, and component inspections
- Repair or replace worn or damaged components on heavy equipment as required
- Report any incident, hazard, or unethical activity that could impact company safety or operations to the Risk Manager
- Act as a mentor to less experienced employees and support team development
- Maintain all required certifications as mandated by law and company policy
- Remain in a constant state of alertness and operate in a safe, responsible manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
