Minimum Requirements:
- Proficient operation of SPMT control systems, including all steering modes and synchronized movements
- Strong understanding of load distribution, axle load calculations, and ground bearing pressures
- Ability to read and interpret transport drawings, method statements, and lift/transport plans
- High level of situational awareness in congested, high-risk work environments
- Effective radio and hand-signal communication with supervisors, banksmen, and rigging teams
- Solid knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and power pack systems related to SPMTs
- Skilled in precision maneuvering of heavy and oversized loads under tight tolerances
- Competent in conducting pre-use inspections and basic fault finding
- Strong commitment to HSE compliance, hazard identification, and risk control
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure and time-critical conditions
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work closely with engineers and lifting crews
- Physical fitness and coordination suitable for long shifts and demanding site conditions
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate SPMT units during heavy lift and transport operations in accordance with approved lift and transport plans
- Execute precise maneuvering, positioning, and alignment of loads under tight tolerance conditions
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of SPMT units, power packs, hydraulic systems, and control systems
- Monitor load stability, axle loads, steering modes, and ground bearing pressures throughout operations
- Follow approved method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work requirements at all times
- Communicate effectively with SPMT supervisors, engineers, riggers, and banksmen using radio and hand signals
- Respond promptly and correctly to abnormal conditions, alarms, and emergency situations
- Perform basic troubleshooting and first-line maintenance and report defects immediately
- Assist with SPMT configuration, coupling and decoupling of axle lines, and setup of power packs
- Ensure full compliance with HSE regulations, company procedures, and site-specific safety rules
- Maintain accurate operational logs, checklists, and inspection reports
- Support continuous improvement through participation in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and lessons learned
