Minimum Requirements:

  • Welding engineer should be experienced professional engineer with a degree or equivalent qualifications. Ideally, a first degree in welding engineering, metallurgy, or materials science should be held. An M.Sc. or Ph.D. in welding engineering is desirable. Qualification as either American Welding Society Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) in conformance to AWS B5.16 or The International Institute of Welding (IIW) International Welding Engineer (IWE) diploma also is considered appropriate.
  • Knowledge and experience in metallic materials & welding engineering
  • Qualified in weld inspection and NDE competence would be a distinct advantage
  • Skill to work with international (EEMUA 158, ASME, AWS) standards
  • Ability to prepare WPSs and organize qualification tests
  • Fluent in English 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • The development of Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Site Welder Instruction Sheets (SWIS).
  • Supervising the qualification, NDT and specifying the type and quantity of mechanical testing of weld procedures.
  • Controlling welder qualification tests ensuring all welder qualification tests are witnessed by the QC Dept / Welder Trainers and carried out in accordance with the applicable Code of Practice.
  • Maintenance and control of welder qualification sheets (through welder trainers)
  • Provide production supervision with verified qualified welder lists.
  • Provision of technical support to AZFEN team on the selection, procurement, certification requirements, storage and usage of welding consumables and equipment
  • Check welding equipment calibration system and certification
  • Check manufacturers’ consumable certificates for compliance, endorse as approved and distribute copies to stores as an approval to issue.
  • To review the weekly weld repair status and implement corrective action as necessary.
  • Evaluation of welding and material failures and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assessment of materials for their weldability.
  • Review and approval of any subcontractors’ welding procedure specifications, welding procedure qualification records and welder qualifications.
  • Implementation of the programme for daily weld audits, review of audit results and preparation of the monthly welder audit summary report.
  • Liaison with Company on a regular basis and providing Company with updated reports and documentation as agreed.
  • Provision of weekly report input and monthly report input to line manager.

  • Mon–Fri: 07:15 – 17:00
  • Saturday: 07:15 – 15:30
