Job Capsule

  • Under broad direction, acts as the focal point for geosteering advance solutions internally and for customers. Leads pre-well projects for the customer from simple to complex geosteering scenarios utilizing the advance knowledge of the well environment and drilling operations. Performs as a lead geosteering professional in all jobs by providing logging data analysis and geological interpretation resulting in modification of the well plan to make accurate and safe drilling recommendations to the customer for achievement of the well goals, including optimum placement of the well bore, hazard avoidance, and/or reservoir mapping. Communicates recommendations internally and to Operator personnel as the expert to ensure that the objectives of projects are met by offering advanced solutions needed to achieve the goal. Responsible for leading and coaching second and third hands on all geosteering projects. Routinely performs quality checks on geosteering interpretations, reports, and job folders. Can act as the owner of cloud resources used in geosteering jobs. Communicates directly with the customer on resolving questions and concerns. Presents complete, detailed, accurate and professional reports to the customer as required, and maintains an updated standard well summary file during the well to assist in writing the end-of-well report. Identifies problems impacting the geosteering job execution and presents solutions. Configures and provides troubleshooting to real-time communication tools used to provide visualizations and/or exchange of data for available interpreted geological data to the customer. Assists with development of new and innovative analysis methods within the discipline, and may deliver geosteering-related training to other disciplines. Mentors and assists in developing other geosteering team members. Requires an undergraduate degree in Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering, or other STEM degree, and a minimum of 5.5 years of related industry experience, including 3 years of geosteering experience.
