Reports to: Project Manager, TTO

Employment type: Full-time

Job Summary: The Commercialization and Market Strategy Specialist is responsible for developing and executing commercialization strategies for inventions and patents within the TTO project. This role involves conducting market research, assessing the commercial viability of projects, identifying potential industry partners, and supporting inventors in creating go-to-market strategies. The specialist will play a key role in ensuring that TTO-supported technologies have a clear path to market and are aligned with industry demands.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market Potential and Commercialization Feasibility Assessment
    • Evaluate applications for market potential, focusing on the demand and scalability in relevant industries. 
    • Assess commercialization readiness to determine if the invention or patent is prepared for market entry. 
    • Analyze competitive positioning by examining existing solutions and unique value propositions. 
    • Identify projects with strong market alignment and high potential for successful commercialization. 
  2. Market Analysis and Opportunity Assessment
    • Conduct in-depth market research to identify potential applications and demand for each invention or patent.
    • Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and user needs to inform commercialization strategies.
    • Provide data-driven insights to evaluate each project’s commercial potential and market positioning.
  3. Commercialization Strategy Development
    • Develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies tailored to each invention or patent, including pricing, target customers, and distribution channels.
    • Create value propositions for TTO-supported technologies, highlighting their competitive advantages and potential applications.
    • Collaborate with inventors to refine their concepts to better align with market requirements and customer expectations.
  4. Industry Partnership Development
    • Identify and engage with potential industry partners, investors, and licensees who may be interested in TTO-supported technologies.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders in relevant industries, facilitating introductions and networking opportunities for inventors.
    • Collaborate with the Industry Relations and Prototyping Specialist to organize industry outreach efforts, such as presentations, networking events, and showcase opportunities.
  5. Licensing and Revenue Generation
    • Assist in the negotiation and structuring of licensing agreements, ensuring terms align with the TTO’s goals and inventors’ interests.
    • Provide guidance on intellectual property licensing models, revenue-sharing structures, and contract terms.
    • Work with the IP and Legal Specialist to ensure all licensing activities are legally compliant and protect inventors’ IP rights.
  6. Pitch Development and Showcase Preparation
    • Support inventors in developing compelling pitch presentations for potential partners, investors, and stakeholders.
    • Conduct training sessions on pitching skills, helping inventors articulate their technology’s value proposition effectively.
    • Assist in the preparation of materials for the final showcase event, ensuring all projects are presentation-ready and aligned with commercial goals.
  7. Continuous Monitoring and Reporting
    • Track the progress of commercialization activities, providing regular updates to the Project Manager and other TTO stakeholders.
    • Prepare reports on market engagement, partnership development, and commercialization outcomes.
    • Gather feedback from partners and industry experts to refine commercialization strategies and improve project alignment with market trends.

Our requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Technology Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercialization, business development, or market strategy, preferably within a technology transfer or R&D setting.
  • Demonstrated success in developing go-to-market strategies and securing industry partnerships.
  • Experience working with intellectual property, licensing, or technology-based projects is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong skills in market research and analysis, with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Proven experience in identifying and securing industry partnerships or clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Azerbaijani and English), with experience in pitching and presenting to industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple commercialization activities concurrently and meet project deadlines.
  • Familiarity with contract negotiation, especially regarding partnership agreements and basic revenue-sharing structures, with a willingness to develop expertise in licensing.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address challenges effectively.
  • Exhibits excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
