We are seeking an experienced Director of Legal Department to lead and manage the full spectrum of corporate legal operations within a major organization operating in a strategically important sector. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CEO and overseeing a legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Legal Department and its team
- Provide legal oversight of corporate documentation and contracts
- Represent the organization in courts and legal proceedings
- Draft, review, and approve commercial agreements and legal opinions
- Ensure compliance with local legislation and applicable international agreements
- Oversee legal aspects of major projects and contractual obligations
- Conduct legal risk assessment and provide strategic recommendations
- Supervise compliance processes within the organization
- Liaise with state authorities, partners, and external stakeholders
- Provide executive reporting to the CEO
Requirements:
- Degree in Law or International Law
- Minimum 5 years of experience in international law
- Strong knowledge of Azerbaijani legislation and international agreements
- Familiarity with English law is an advantage
- Proven experience in contract drafting and litigation representation
- Fluency in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- High level of organizational and communication competence
