LV Logistics is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Azerbaijan. The role will support the business across commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, claims management, and dispute resolution, with a strong focus on logistics, transportation, and international trade operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts (sales, services, transportation, vendors)
• Provide legal advice on commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters
• Manage legal disputes, claims (cargo, liability, property), and liaise with external counsel and insurers
• Support internal teams with risk mitigation, claims prevention, risk allocation and contract compliance
• Monitor relevant legislation and support continuous improvement of legal procedures
• Review customer and vendor contracts to ensure clear liability allocation, dispute resolution terms, and effective claims handling provisions.
• Act as the primary liaison with insurers, brokers, adjusters, external counsel, and internal stakeholders throughout the claims lifecycle.
• Analyse claims trends and recommend practical measures to reduce risk exposure and strengthen contractual protections.
• Maintain accurate and compliant claims documentation in line with audit and regulatory requirements.
• Serve as the escalation point for overage, shortage, and damage (OS&D) matters, providing guidance and training as required.
• Identify legal and operational risks proactively and propose effective mitigation strategies to management.
• Support continuous improvement of internal legal and claims management processes.
• Participate in internal and external audits and regulatory reviews as necessary.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (Master’s or professional certification is an advantage)
• Proven experience in corporate legal advisory, contracts, and claims management (logistics/transport sector preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Azerbaijani commercial, customs, and transport regulations.
• Fluency in Azerbaijani and English; Russian is an advantage
• In-depth understanding of claims negotiation, settlement processes, and effective risk mitigation strategies.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with a commercial mindset.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and with acute attention to detail.
• Capable of exercising sound, independent judgment while handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
