Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as the focal point for all mechanical QA/QC activities within the project, ensuring that all mechanical systems and installations meet required quality standards and specifications.
  • Monitor and verify mechanical works performed by contractors, ensuring compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
  • Review and approve mechanical inspection and test plans (ITPs), material submittals, and quality-related documentation.
  • Conduct routine site inspections and witness mechanical system tests, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Liaise with construction, design, and commissioning teams to resolve quality issues and non-conformities.
  • Prepare QA/QC reports and documentation for internal quality records and client submission.
  • Support the project’s HSE and commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration of quality requirements into construction and handover stages.
  • Participate in project progress and coordination meetings to provide QA/QC mechanical input.
  • Coordinate with third-party testing agencies and ensure the proper execution and documentation of mechanical testing and validation..
  • Attending Progress Meetings with PMCs (Project Management Companies), contractors, consultants and other stakeholders. 
  • Will report to Project Director / Project Manager.

Desired background:

  • The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university and possess a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical quality control roles within large-scale construction projects, preferably in the hospitality, hotel, or mixed-use development sectors. A solid understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing networks, and fire protection installations is essential.
  • Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in reviewing technical submittals, inspection and test plans (ITPs), method statements, and material approvals related to mechanical works. Familiarity with international standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and ISO 9001 is required, as well as knowledge of local construction codes and regulations.
  • The position demands strong communication and coordination skills, particularly the ability to interface effectively with consultants, contractors, third-party laboratories, and internal project teams. Experience with site inspections, test witnessing, and handover documentation is essential.
  • Professional certifications in QA/QC or relevant mechanical systems (such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASME training, or commissioning certifications) will be considered a significant asset.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages and prior exposure to international and multicultural project environments will be regarded favorably.
  • A strong foundation in mechanical system design, installation, testing, and commissioning is essential. The candidate should demonstrate in-depth technical knowledge of:
  • HVAC systems (central cooling plants, VRF/VRV systems, air handling units, fan coil units, ductwork, and chilled water distribution)
  • Plumbing systems (hot and cold water distribution, drainage, sewage, and sanitary systems)
  • Fire protection systems (wet and dry risers, sprinkler networks, fire pumps, and gas suppression systems)
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) and their integration with mechanical systems
  • Energy efficiency and sustainability measures, including heat recovery, thermal insulation, and demand-controlled ventilation
