Role Summary
The Lead Cost Engineer is responsible in the lead, management and support of the Commercial Department. With effective control and reporting of project costs for all client, in a consistent manner and in accordance with all relevant Company policies and procedures. Working closely with Commercial Manager and assisting with the digitization reporting plan.
Responsibilities
- Management with provision of guidance and supervision to support and oversee Cost Engineer team
- Assist Commercial Manager with corporate reporting and other duties required
- Provide support to the Principal Cost Engineer to enhance targets and ensure improvements are developed and met
- Actively participate in project kick-off and progress meetings
- Assist and provide guidance to the Digital Solutions and Technology department with digitalizing cost related reports
- Provide development progression plans for the cost department
- Review and commercially approve CTRs / CVOs, Purchase Orders and Contract Reviews over the Principal Cost Engineer approval limit
- Provide guidance and support on vendor terms and conditions for new vendor negotiations
- Regular interaction with Finance on maximizing sales invoicing and meeting internal targets
- Proactive in the provision and innovation of improvement proposals to streamline processes and efficiency measures
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with Finance, Contract Managers, Project Directors, and Commercial Teams
- Proactively identify and highlight areas of concern or commercial risks to Commercial Manager
- Promote and adhere to the GENES culture
- Responsible for ensuring professional development is maintained and identified competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner
- Adherence to the company integrated management system
- Compliance with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies
- Demonstrate and promote PD&MS QHSE principles and lead by example
- Ensure unsafe activities are challenged
- Adherence to the requirements of the best practice standards recommendations and processes in the undertaking of duties, in particular, risk assessment and control, reliability and failure prevention necessary to ensure the safe design, provision and use of tools, equipment and systems
- Demonstrate and promote PD&MS values and lead by example
- Ensure direct report performance reviews are carried out within the required timescales (where applicable)
Qualifications
- HND or equivalent in a relevant subject
Competency standards
- Competent in the use of MS applications
- Demonstrable experience in similar projects
- Proficient in reviewing and interpreting plans and schedules
- Demonstrable People Management experience
- Excellent written and spoken English
