POSITION SUMMARY

This position supervises the site maintenance technicians for the mechanical discipline and oversees repair and installation work conducted by mechanics in plant; conducts inspections ensures that safety procedures are being adhered to and maintains inventory of equipment parts; coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining of plant equipment; supervises the work and operation of administrative procedures for personal, involving tools, equipment parts, lubricating oils etc.

JOB DUTIES

  • Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of Maintenance Technician duties;
  • Assign work orders to technicians and monitors performance;
  • Oversee the repair of equipment for completeness, correctness, quality, safety, efficiency, and documentation;
  • Participate in the work management system implementation;
  • Set goals and provide resources to assure team and individual success;
  • Participate in the performance evaluation process;
  • Provide input to technician training needs;
  • Monitor equipment for operational problems;
  • Comply with all HSE programs, policies and procedures;
  • Perform special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned, review maintenance procedures;
  • Prescribe work detail, specifications and procedures to be adopted in special undertakings related to the repair, maintenance and modification of equipment;
  • Review the safety practices of mechanics and to ensure that all employees are following company safety guidelines;
  • Ensure that parts for repairs and installation are set with min/max level in SAP system. This will involve keeping inventory records and ordering parts as needed;
  • Other duties requested by Line Manager 

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Directly accountable for day to day matters to the Mechanical Team Leader; 
  • Directs workers engaged in repairing and maintaining parts of plant equipment;
  • Coordinates activities of workers engaged in installation of machinery and equipment;
  • Directs workers in mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance and repair of plant equipment;
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in plant equipment based on daily observations applying knowledge from experience;
  • Interviews and recommends for employment suitable applicants for work in all phases of equipment maintenance;
  • Maintains inventories of stocks, tools, workshop equipment and other supplies;
  • Gives technical advice as required or makes reports on technical subjects on all matters pertaining to maintenance of plant equipment;
  • Responsible for daily checks arrangement of plant equipment to make sure any deficiencies, malfunctions timely observed & attended;
  • Order materials and services, maintain records, control spares stock; 
  • Responding to maintenance requests and planned preventative maintenance activities for plant and equipment using the SAP system; 
  • Responsible for ensuring that all staff and subcontractors' response and rectification times are met, and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay; 
  • To keep up to date with and have an awareness of new products and new improved working methods that can add value by improving quality and reducing costs;
  • Undertake maintenance surveys and produce reports accurately and concise;
  • Follow up corrective actions and implement countermeasures to minimise reoccurrence of faults;
  • Responsible for all equipment and facilities breakdowns, corrective actions and countermeasures;
  • Ensuring relevant maintenance parts are sourced and reported in a timely manner to minimise disruption;
  • Maintain effective Health and Safety systems, including completion of risk assessments and method statements and toolbox talks where appropriate;

TYPICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of proven practical experience, preferably in the Oil and Gas or Petro-Chemical Industry
  • Experience with maintenance databases and data management;
  • Previous supervisory experience;
  • Experience working with Third Party vendors and/or contractors;
  • Experience of working within restricted access and high-level work; 
  • Ability to identify faults in equipment accurately and quickly when under pressure; 
  • Experience of meeting planned maintenance deadlines; 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Advanced knowledge of Azerbaijani and English
  • Knowledge of Russian is an asset

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Equipment Problems Trouble-shooting and proper Root Cause Analysis, then development of Solutions;
  • Ensure mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality;
  • Analysing mechanics’ work performance;
  • Proven successful track record in operations, maintenance practices and procedures;
  • Ability to interpret MSDS’s, P&ID’s, PFD’s, GA, Sectional drawings;
  • Hazard recognition skills, ability to identify contamination issues (lubrication, equipment);
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling;
  • Excellent understanding of safety management in processing facility, with a demonstrated personal commitment to safety;
  • Working knowledge of Operations Management Systems, familiar with Management of Change and Control of Work practices;

TRAINING & EDUCATION NEEDED

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or recognized industry apprenticeship
  • Considerable experience in a responsible position supervising heavy industry equipment repair and maintenance;
