Group: Projects Legal Regulatory Support Group
Job duties:
- Lead the Legal and Regulatory Support Group in providing legal oversight and guidance on all project-related activities within the company;
- Ensure the timely preparation and delivery of legal opinions, memorandums, correspondence, and documentation related to legal matters and issues raised by management;
- Supervise the review of project contracts and oversee the drafting of a wide range of legal documents, including but not limited to contracts, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), partnership agreements, service agreements, memorandums of understanding (MoUs), side agreements, declarations, production sharing agreements, risk service agreements, and shareholders' agreements;
- Coordinate the preparation of all legal documentation and provide legal support on matters concerning the petroleum-related operations of SOCAR oil companies managed by the company, including those of its locally administered branches and representative offices.
- Manage correspondence on legal matters arising from or related to production sharing agreements, risk service agreements, and joint operating agreements;
- Participate in contract negotiations and discussions with partners, vendors, government entities, and other stakeholders to ensure the company’s interests are safeguarded in all projects;
- Provide legal expertise on contracts and other legal documents arising from or in connection with production sharing agreements, risk service agreements, and joint operating agreements;
- Prepare reports for assessment and presentation to senior officials;
- Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training sessions, and disseminate relevant legal requirements to staff;
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., technical, commercial, finance, procurement) to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with projects;
- Offer insights and propose innovative legal solutions while seeking opportunities for process improvement in project supervision;
- Work strategically to achieve organizational goals, develop legal strategies, and consider a wide range of issues that may impact the company;
- Set clear objectives, plan legal-related activities proactively, and manage time efficiently;
- Report regularly to senior management and legal leadership on key legal developments, project risks, and compliance matters;
- Mentor and guide team members, ensuring continuous professional development and adherence to legal best practices.
Additional requirements:
- Master degree in Law, İnternational Law;
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as the Legal Advisor;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience required in similar senior position;
- The experience in the field of Legal in the Oil and Gas industry is preferable;
- Knowledge of civil law, international commercial arbitration law, international private law, company law, international commercial and contract law;
- Advanced written and oral communication skills in English (C1) and Azerbaijani;
- Knowledge of tax and corporate law;
- Knowledge of Employment law.
