Key details about the role and the candidate
The Materials Controller will report operationally to the Maintenance Supervisor and functionally to the Supply Chain Manager. The candidate will oversee the effective management, movement, and storage of materials to support drilling operations, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
We are seeking a diligent, detail-oriented, and proactive individual with prior experience in materials management within the Oil and Gas or process industries. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, familiarity with SCM systems, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic team environment.
You and the role
A vacancy has arisen externally for a Materials Controller position as part of the Offshore Business Unit and is available for Azerbaijani citizens only.
The Materials Controller is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating the movement of all drilling materials through liaison with the end-client offshore, Rig Superintendent and Materials Coordinator.
Primary responsibilities
- Raise offshore requisitions for ongoing drilling and stock requirements.
- Receive and update all stock and stock control related systems.
- Organize all transportation and paperwork for items being returned to base locations and for inter-field transfers.
- Update all card/computerized systems for recording drilling tool and stock movements.
- Receive and register all rental equipment and the return of same as required.
- Report on a monthly basis on material movements, issues and current stock levels.
- Supervise the loading and unloading of third party owned, drilling related equipment under the direction of the end-clients representative as required.
- Ensure that all equipment is stored on the correct shelving in the correct location in a safe manner.
- Identify and label all stock items.
- Arrange and maintain the shelf storage and warehouse facilities.
- Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.
- Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.
Experience
- Some prior experience in warehousing within the Oil and Gas industry or a large process industry (such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, utilities, CPG, or food).
- Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
- Proficiency in SAP for supply chain-related transactions.

Minimum Qualifications
- Competency in SCM methodologies.
- Proficiency in speaking, understanding, and writing in English.
- Competence in SAP, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
