Position Overview

  • Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems in building projects, ensuring that they meet project requirements, are energy efficient, and comply with relevant codes and standards. This role collaborates with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality mechanical systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review detailed designs, specifications, load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and piping systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and design intent.
  • Review contractor material submittals and subcontractor proposals from a technical standpoint. 
  • Support and contribute to the tender process through technical assessments and clarification responses.
  • Review tendered mechanical designs and identify potential risks, gaps, or value-engineering opportunities.
  • Identify and assess potential cost variations arising from contractor claims or design changes. 
  • Coordinate mechanical work with other MEP disciplines, architects, structural engineers, and consultants.
  • Review and approve method statements and shop drawings for compliance with approved designs. 
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Witness mechanical testing activities, including pressure tests and duct leakage tests.
  • Review testing, commissioning, and performance results, providing feedback to the Project Team.
  • Maintain and track mechanical defects and ensure timely contractor rectification and snagging closure.
  • Prepare and issue site/engineer’s instructions related to mechanical services as required.
  • Coordinate with the document controller to ensure proper filing and control of MEP documentation.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar role within construction (preferably in fit-out work) or project-based environments.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with MS. Office, AutoCAD, or Revit.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and energy efficiency standards.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and meet deadlines efficiently.

Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in Azerbaijani is required.
  • Good command of English and Russian is an advantage
