Administrator, Counseling and Guidance

Administrator, Counseling and Guidance is part of the education team and is a specialist whose aims are to support students in the process of adjustment to new school environment, maximize students’ academic success through implementation of programs addressing goal setting and academic planning, as well as assist in problems related to social and emotional development.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate and report the results of ADA School counseling program;
  • Help students understand and overcome emotional, behavioral and social problems by providing individual and small group psychological counseling based on personal requests, as well referrals from parents and/or school staff; 
  • Help students set SMART academic and career goals and develop individual academic plans; 
  • Conduct regular assessment (psychological, vocational, behavioral, aptitude testing) and interpret the results for students, as well parents, school leadership and faculty; 
  • Help students develop organizational and planning skills as well as acquire effective study habits through individual meetings, group seminars and workshops and My ADA course;
  • Provide career guidance through conducting “Guided Career Experiences” course as well as through individual and small group career counseling; 
  • Collaborate with parents, as well as school leadership and faculty to identify and address concerns, needs and behavioral issues of students; 
  • Understand and maintain the confidentiality of students’ personal information; 
  • Identify cases of students engaging in behaviors putting themselves or others in danger and report to authorities; 
  • Design and deliver comprehensive intervention and prevention programs addressing various social and emotional issues including, but not limited to bullying, violence, stigmatization of mental health, unhealthy lifestyle habits; 
  • If required, refer students to relevant specialists outside school for additional support, e.g. medical; 
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by supervisor; 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology or closely related field;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in School and Educational Psychology;
  • Experience of individual and group counseling; 
  • Must be capable to maintain a high level of performance in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proficiency in English and Azerbaijani languages;. 
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, is essential; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including presentation skills;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality always.
