Reports To: Secondary Principal
The European Azerbaijan School is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Special Education Needs (SEN) Teacher for the Secondary School. The successful candidate will support students with diverse learning needs and ensure inclusive access to the curriculum while promoting independence, confidence, and academic success.
Applicants must hold a teaching qualification recognized by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Education, with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English (minimum B2/C1 level) is required, as instruction is delivered in English.
General Description of Position:
- The SEN Teacher will work with students across the secondary grades to identify learning needs, develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and provide targeted academic and emotional support. The role includes close collaboration with subject teachers to ensure appropriate differentiation and inclusion strategies are embedded across all subjects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess students with additional educational needs;
- Develop, implement, and regularly review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs);
- Provide individualized and small-group support tailored to student needs;
- Collaborate with subject teachers to adapt curriculum content, teaching strategies, and assessments;
- Support students in developing study skills, organization, and independent learning strategies;
- Monitor and track student progress, maintaining accurate documentation;
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress;
- Work closely with school leadership and external specialists when necessary;
- Promote inclusive education practices across the secondary school;
- Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred);
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in SEN, preferably in a secondary school setting;
- Strong understanding of adolescent learning needs and inclusive education practices;
- Experience in developing and implementing IEPs;
- Familiarity with international curricula (e.g., IB, IGCSE) is an advantage;
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills;
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents from diverse backgrounds;
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills;
- Maintains confidentiality and professionalism;
- Patient, empathetic, and supportive approach to students.
Language Skills:
- Fluent in English (spoken and written);
- Azerbaijani language skills are an advantage.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Ability to use digital tools for tracking student progress and reporting.
