About the Role:
The Economist will act as a key specialist within the Product Development team, supporting the Baku Stock Exchange’s (BSE) strategic objectives through in-depth capital market analysis, robust product development initiatives, and high-value research outputs. The role is designed to advance the BSE’s product suite, drive revenue growth, and ensure the BSE remains competitive and compliant within the Azerbaijan capital markets ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing product lines (equities, bonds, repos) to identify growth opportunities, optimize pricing structures, and develop enhancement strategies that drive revenue streams.
- Lead end-to-end development of new financial products relevant to Azerbaijan’s capital market context — from initial feasibility studies to final go-to-market strategies, ensuring regulatory alignment.
- Design and maintain product roadmaps and lifecycle management frameworks aligned with the BSE’s strategic plan.
- Conduct deep-dive economic and market research to inform product positioning, market entry strategies, and competitive differentiation.
- Monitor macroeconomic indicators, monetary policy developments, and regulatory shifts affecting capital market dynamics.
- Prepare strategic whitepapers, policy briefs, and leadership reports to guide Executive Management and Board decisions.
- Develop and maintain analytical models for product performance forecasting and market scenario analysis.
- Deliver professional presentations to internal teams, external partners, regulatory authorities, and market participants.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on Azerbaijan’s capital markets structure, monetary policies, and Central Bank regulations.
- Actively contribute to cross-functional project teams and working groups related to new product launches or regulatory reforms.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Business is mandatory.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred.
- CFA Level 1 certification passed is a distinct advantage.
- Proven knowledge of capital markets operations, instruments (equities, bonds, repos), and trading dynamics.
- Solid understanding of monetary policy frameworks and practical implications for capital markets.
- Sound familiarity with the regulatory landscape of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Republic and related market laws is advantage.
- Demonstrated research experience, with a portfolio of published or internal reports, methodologies, or strategic papers.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Strong capability in product ownership principles, including market needs assessment, agile product development, and launch execution.
- Advanced skills in crafting high-quality presentations and professional reports for diverse audiences.
- Advanced proficiency in Azerbaijani and English (both written and spoken) is essential.
- Strategic and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
