Job Overview:

  • The Senior Procurement  Contracts Specialist is responsible for managing procurement and contracting activities with a strong focus on contract drafting, negotiation, administration, and contractual risk management. The role requires a strong legal background and practical experience in commercial contracts, supporting the Company throughout the full contract lifecycle from tendering and award through execution, amendments, claims, and close-out.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Drafting & Negotiation

  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate commercial contracts, including Service Agreements, Supply Agreements, Framework Agreements, Consultancy Agreements, NDAs, Purchase Orders, Amendments, Change Orders, and Letters of Intent.
  • Review suppliers’ contractual terms, prepare mark-ups and deviation lists, and coordinate comments with Legal, Finance, Technical, Tax, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify contractual, commercial, legal, and operational risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Review and negotiate key clauses   with counterparties and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure that all negotiated commercial and contractual terms are correctly reflected in the final agreement before execution.

Contract Management

  • Manage contracts throughout the full lifecycle, from execution and mobilization through performance monitoring, amendments, renewals, and close-out.
  • Monitor key contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, notice periods, expiry dates, guarantees, insurance requirements, and payment conditions.
  • Ensure that all variations, scope changes, extensions, and additional works are properly documented and approved before implementation.
  • Prepare and manage contractual correspondence, formal notices, amendments, extensions, and other contract-related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate contract registers, correspondence, amendments, and supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Work closely with contract owners and project teams to ensure contractual obligations are understood and properly followed.
  • Identify potential contractual issues, delays, claims, or non-performance at an early stage and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support contract performance reviews and follow up on outstanding contractual and commercial matters.
  • Support the review and resolution of claims, variation requests, additional payment requests, and extension-of-time requests.
  • Ensure timely completion of contract close-out, including final deliverables, outstanding claims, payments, guarantees, and release of contractual obligations.

Procurement & Tendering

  • Support end-to-end procurement activities from sourcing strategy through contract award.
  • Review contractual and commercial deviations submitted by bidders.
  • Support preparation of procurement recommendations and approval documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Company procurement procedures, delegation of authority, applicable legislation, and internal governance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law 
  • Additional qualification in Procurement, Contract Management, Commercial Management, or Supply Chain would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in contracts, procurement, commercial management, or legal roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and administration.
  • Experience with complex service and supply contracts.
  • Oil & Gas, Energy, Engineering, Construction, Seismic, Drilling, or similar industry experience is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong contract drafting and interpretation skills.
  • Good knowledge of commercial and contract law.
  • Strong negotiation and contractual risk assessment skills.
  • Experience in claims, variations, amendments, and contract administration.
  • Good understanding of procurement and tendering processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Fluent Azerbaijani and English; Russian is an advantage.
