Financial Risk Analyst

Responsibilities:

Financial Risk Analysis of the projects:

  • Conduct comprehensive financial risk analysis of projects from construction to operations stages, exposure profiles across renewable energy projects, providing early identification of risk sources, support and agreed with risk owners on appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Analyze project and financing agreements to detect risks of non-performance, covenant breaches, or potential defaults, delivering proactive insights and periodic updates on evolving financial risk indicators.
  • Prepare regular financial risk reports and assessments, clearly summarizing key exposures, scenario impacts, and emerging concerns, to support informed decision-making within the finance team and senior management.
  • Conduct financial impact analyses of realized high- and critical-level risks and incidents across projects and operations, coordinate evaluations with relevant stakeholders, and report key findings to management.
  • Develop, update, and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for financial risks in coordination with the finance team, and provide regular status reports to management. Review mitigation plans for negative financial KRI deviations with respective teams and provide recommendations.

Credit and Market Risk Management:

  • Analyze credit risk exposure associated with lenders, investors, and off-takers. 
  • Evaluate and manage market risks, including interest rate fluctuations, currency risks in cross-border investments, and energy price volatility.
  • Advice on the hedging strategies to mitigate adverse market movements (e.g., currency, interest rate, energy prices), and assess their alignment with risk management objectives, and provide actionable feedback to ensure the strategies effectively address potential risks to project profitability and financial stability.

Insurance Management:

  • Support the Project Management team in developing and maintaining project insurance policies by analyzing financial exposure, evaluating risk transfer mechanisms, and ensuring cost-effective coverage implemented.
  • Collaborate with insurance providers to assess, design, and secure insurance solutions tailored to the financial and operational risk profile of renewable energy projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and financial analysis of local and international insurance markets, including pricing benchmarks, market trends, capacity, and emerging risk-coverage innovations relevant to renewable energy assets.
  • Review and evaluate insurance advisors’ reports from a financial-risk perspective, ensuring recommendations align with corporate risk appetite, budget considerations, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as ISO31000, FRM, or CFA are a plus.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in financial risk management.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate financial and insurance-related risks. Experience with project insurance and understanding of renewable energy project insurance requirements.
  • Financial impact assessment of incidents and realized risk related experience are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, detailed reports and presentations for senior management and project stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail in reviewing project finance documentation, insurance policies, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to spot potential issues and proactively recommend solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on detail, ensuring effective management of all risks throughout the project lifecycle.
