The Head of Warehouse Department is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations to ensure efficient, effective, and safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely dispatch of goods. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and organizational skills to optimize warehouse operations and meet company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the warehouse team, including supervisors, operatives, and administrative staff.
  • Implement and maintain effective warehouse management policies and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and efficiency.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, inventory management, and dispatching.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement and monitor performance metrics to evaluate warehouse efficiency and productivity.

Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems and processes.
  • Conduct regular audits and reconcile discrepancies promptly.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for warehouse operations to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and logistics, to align warehouse activities with company objectives.
  • Identify and implement technological advancements to improve warehouse operations.

Budget Management:

  • Prepare and manage the warehouse budget, including labor, equipment, and supplies.
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality and safety.

Vendor and Supplier Relations:

  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of warehouse equipment and supplies.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate and analyze reports on warehouse performance, inventory levels, and other key metrics.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on data analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in warehouse management or logistics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
