The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is pleased to announce a job offer for the position of Accounting Specialist to support the GIZ office Baku.

Location: Baku, Azerbaijan

Duration of employment: 1 Juli 2026 - 31 December 2027 (with option of prolongation)

Key Responsibilities

Accounting tasks

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for:

  • recording, processing and checking of incoming invoices and payment orders
  • pre-entry and posting of invoices in the SAP system as well as the final account assignment in accordance with the chart of accounts and statutory accounting regulations
  • booking payroll
  • provision of monthly / quarterly reports
  • processing of reminders and clarification of invoice differences
  • monitoring of the recorded invoices as well as the accounting assignment
  • reconciliation of accounts
  • assumption of administrative tasks, e.g. keeping statistics
  • the efficient execution of inquiries on accounting topics
  • monitoring of balance sheet accounts (payables/receivables)
  • preparation of documents related to inventory reports and annual financial statements
  • close cooperation with finance managers
  • pre-checking travel settlements
  • proper filing
  • ordering and renewal of salary cards

Other / additional tasks

The Accounting Specialist:

  • performs other duties and tasks upon request of the management
  • substitutes other colleagues within the office team
  • arranges hotel bookings and taxi bookings for visitors
  • answers incoming telephone calls and forwards messages where necessary
  • receives, sends, and registers incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • ordering office supplies
  • supports general administrative and assistant-related tasks in the office

Other knowledge, additional competences:

  • Completed commercial vocational education or university degree or comparable professional experience with accounting processes
  • Working experience with accounting processes, at least two years working experience
  • Self-initiative at work, positive mind-set and ability to work independently with good analytical and prioritization skills and in a team
  • Sound SAP-knowledge, Proficiency in office software
  • Experience with record management and filing
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
