Job Description

  • The Head of Lease and Operations Division is responsible for leading and overseeing the company’s logistics, customs, lease operations, and integrated sales and marketing activities. The role focuses on ensuring efficient logistics and customs operations, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and sustainable revenue growth through aligned sales and business development strategies.
  • This position requires applying analytical methods and management tools to plan, monitor, and optimize logistics and customs processes, including data management, performance analysis, cost control, risk identification, and development of actionable recommendations that support business and operational objectives.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics and customs operations, combined with commercial and sales acumen, and the ability to translate customer and market needs into effective operational, sales, and business development strategies. The Head of Lease and Operations will report directly to the Company CEO. Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time as required by the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop annual unit and gross profit plans by implementing marketing strategies and analyzing market trends and results.
  • Identify market segments and develop effective sales and business development plans.
  • Manage the selling process to external customers, including pricing strategies and contract negotiations.
  • Establish sales objectives through forecasting, planning, execution, and monitoring of sales performance for existing and new products and services.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with new and existing customers; participate in sales calls and conduct regular client visits to identify new business opportunities.
  • Meet customers to assess evolving needs and ensure high-quality relationship management.
  • Prepare company introductions, presentations, and participate in exhibitions, business forums, professional societies, and networking events.
  • Respond to incoming customer inquiries and ensure timely resolution; prepare commercial proposals and quotations.
  • Negotiate rates, service levels, contract terms, and successfully close sales deals.
  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop the sales team to ensure professional standards are met and monthly sales and KPI targets are achieved.
  • Formulate and implement the overall divisional strategy to achieve revenue growth and profitability targets.
  • Analyze competitor activities and develop counter-strategies to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Take responsibility for budgeting, feasibility studies, business planning, P&L management, reporting, and the overall performance of lease and operations.
  • Perform data management using data mining, modeling, analysis, and cost-benefit evaluations to support decision-making.
  • Estimate costs for new business opportunities, including CAPEX, OPEX, construction, and operational expenses.
  • Develop and maintain cost estimation, forecasting, and financial models.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to communicate insights, strategies, and findings to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, including KPIs and forecasts for all aspects of business operations.
  • Act as a self-starter with a proven track record of driving significant business growth.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Company CEO.

Qualifications and education requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in logistics operations, customs, freight forwarding, and/or B2B sales within logistics-related industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree is considered an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, freight forwarding, customs clearance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales growth, and P&L (Profit & Loss) management.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform under operational pressure.
  • Knowledge of HSE safety guidelines and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong presentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills.

  • Azerbaijani – Fluent
  • English – Fluent
  • Additional languages are considered an advantage

Preferred skills and advantages

  • Strong hands-on experience in logistics operations and customs clearance processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs legislation, documentation, and interaction with customs authorities.
  • Relevant customs-related certifications are preferred.
  • Experience in freight forwarding, warehousing, transportation, and lease-related operations.
  • PMP certification or solid project management experience is an advantage.
  • Experience in product development and operational implementation.
  • Strong relationship management skills with customers, partners, and government entities.
  • Proven expertise in budgeting, cost control, feasibility studies, and financial analysis.
  • Strong negotiation, sales, and commercial decision-making skills.
  • Ability to use project management and analytical tools effectively.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across departments and functions.
