Stream: International (Cambridge) Application Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts, Drama Education, Performing Arts, or a related field.
- A teaching certification or licensure
- Previous experience in theatre, whether as an actor, director, stage manager, or technician, is highly valuable.
- Experience working with children or youth in a theatrical or educational setting, such as directing school plays, leading drama clubs, or teaching drama workshops, is also advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An understanding of child development and educational psychology
- Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to engage students with different learning styles
Main responsibilities:
- Design and implement a comprehensive and engaging drama curriculum that aligns with educational standards, learning objectives, and the developmental needs of students.
- Develop lesson plans, activities, and assessments that foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills through the exploration of dramatic arts.
- Teach fundamental principles of acting, improvisation, movement, voice, and stagecraft to students.
- Lead drama exercises, games, and activities that promote self-expression, confidence-building, and ensemble work.
- Direct and facilitate rehearsals for school productions, guiding students in character development, blocking, and performance techniques.
- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to creative expression and learning.
- Set clear expectations for student behavior and conduct and enforce consistent and fair classroom rules and procedures.
- Manage time effectively during lessons and rehearsals to maximize student engagement and productivity.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their acting skills, theatrical techniques, and understanding of dramatic concepts.
- Keep accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee all aspects of school productions, including selecting scripts, casting roles, coordinating rehearsals, designing sets and costumes, and managing technical elements such as lighting, sound, and props.
