Job Review:

The Technical Director is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of production, ensuring seamless operation and integration of technology in media content creation. This role requires a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and strategic vision to support and enhance the company’s production capabilities. The candidate will work closely with editorial team to produce their vision in the presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be the crew leader of the Production Control Room team
• perform the duties of a video director using an automated Production system
• Develop and implement technical strategies that align with the company’s goals. 
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the company at the forefront of innovation. 
• Ensure the presenter has a stress free environment
• Offer options for presentation of stories
• Create best practices protocol and documents 
• Supervise the technical aspects of media production, including video, audio, and digital content. 
• Ensure all technical equipment and software are functioning optimally. 
• Create a protocol document for Production teams to follow
• Troubleshoot technical issues during live and recorded productions to minimize downtime. 
• Collaborate with producers, and entire production and editorial teams, to understand vision and give options
• Train and mentor Production staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
• Implement and enforce technical standards and quality control measures. 
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of technical equipment to ensure high-quality output. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Fluency in English
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Production Control Room.
• Strong Communication and Leadership ability
• Proven experience with media production technologies, including vision mixers, cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and editing software. 
• Experience with NRCS, automation an asset
• Strong understanding of broadcast standards, digital media workflows,
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. 
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
