Job Overview:
The Journalist is responsible for researching, writing, and reporting news stories for broadcast and newsroom platforms. The role focuses on delivering accurate, timely, and engaging news coverage for television and editorial use, ensuring high journalistic standards and credibility.
The ideal candidate has strong news judgment, excellent writing skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Research, gather, and verify information for news stories
- Report on current events, breaking news, and assigned beats
- Write clear, accurate, and well-structured news scripts and reports
- Conduct interviews with newsmakers, experts, and eyewitnesses
- Collaborate closely with editors, producers, cameramen, and newsroom staff
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas
- Prepare reports for television broadcast, including voice-over when required
- Ensure compliance with journalistic ethics, editorial policies, and accuracy standards
- Work under tight deadlines while maintaining quality and factual integrity
- Use newsroom computer systems for script writing and editorial workflows
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in journalism or newsroom reporting
- Excellent English writing and editing skills
- Strong research, interviewing, and fact-checking abilities
- Ability to analyze events and present information clearly and objectively
- Experience working in a TV newsroom or broadcast environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts and breaking news coverage
- Knowledge of newsroom systems (NRCS) is an advantage
- Additional language skills are considered an asset
