On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Lead Power Systems Engineer

A large industrial organization delivering complex metallurgical and heavy industrial projects is seeking an experienced Lead Power Systems Engineer to oversee the complete electrical power system scope of a major HBI / DRI-related project.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the discipline authority for all HV and MV power distribution systems, substations, and main power infrastructure
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of power electrical engineers and designers
- Design and oversee the industrial power distribution network, including substations, MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and bus duct systems
- Coordinate with utility providers and internal engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Process, Civil)
- Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, ANSI/IEEE, NEC) and local regulations
- Support construction, commissioning, testing, and start-up of HV/MV systems
Lead and review mandatory power system studies:
- Load flow and load shedding
- Short-circuit and fault current calculations
- Protective relay coordination
- Arc flash and grounding studies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7–14 years of experience in power system design within heavy industrial or EPC/EPCM projects
- Mandatory experience in minerals, metals, or DRI/HBI facilities
- Proven experience leading an electrical engineering discipline or team
- Strong proficiency with power system analysis software (ETAP, SKM, PowerFactory or similar)
- Solid knowledge of protection relaying and industrial substation design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is an advantage
- Fluent English is mandatory; Azerbaijani, Russian, or Chinese is a plus
