Job duties
- Assist in preparing reports, designs, and drawings for structural projects.
- Support in performing calculations for pressures, loads, and stresses.
- Help in selecting appropriate construction materials based on their strength and suitability.
- Provide support in evaluating and advising on safe design and construction practices.
- Assist in obtaining necessary planning and/or building regulations approvals.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to analyze the configuration of structural components.
- Work with architects and other engineers to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Monitor and inspect construction work to ensure compliance with design specifications and structural safety.
- Assist with project management tasks, including scheduling and reporting.
- Contribute to property inspections, focusing on structural conditions and foundation assessments.
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to assist in simulations and design development.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- 1-2 years of work experience in structural engineering (internships or junior roles).
- Strong understanding of structural design principles, construction methods, and materials.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Basic understanding of physics and mathematics related to structural engineering.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Proficiency with computer software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
