Role Purpose
The Head of the Data Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) is responsible for the execution and operational leadership of the organization's analytics enablement model across both agile (tribe/squad) and functional (operations/departmental) structures.
This role plays a pivotal part in implementing the defined analytics operating model, standards, and tooling strategy, helping squads and departments across the business unlock value from data. The function is non-centralized—instead of directly producing reports, this CoE empowers others to do so effectively, consistently, and securely.
Key Responsibilities
Execute Analytics Enablement Model
- Operationalize the CoE’s defined strategy, operating model, and roadmap to scale analytics capability across the enterprise.
- Ensure consistent rollout of approved processes, tools, and templates that enable decentralized teams to self-serve and act on data.
- Serve as the CoE’s day-to-day lead, working closely with the Head of Data Management.
Support Tribes, Squads & Operations
- Collaborate with squads in agile tribes (e.g. Underwriting, Claims, Product, Sales, CX) to co-develop dashboards, KPI libraries, and insight tools.
- Partner with centralized operations teams to support decision-making, performance monitoring, and business planning with trusted data.
- Act as a cross-functional connector and facilitator for business-driven analytics use cases.
Enforce Governance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with enterprise standards for KPIs, metric definitions, reporting structures, and data quality.
- Guide teams in applying best practices in dashboarding, visualization, and reporting design.
- Promote and oversee the adoption of curated, certified datasets and analytics-ready assets.
Build Capabilities Across the Business
- Coach and mentor analytics resources embedded in tribes and departments to ensure consistent skills and methodology.
- Lead internal training initiatives to strengthen data literacy and promote effective use of BI tools.
- Support the rollout and leadership of analytics communities of practice across the organization.
Drive Integration & Alignment
- Facilitate the integration of internal and external data sources into business analytics workflows.
- Partner with IT and data engineering to ensure infrastructure supports federated access and delivery models.
- Act as an internal champion of data consistency and reuse across domains and teams.
People Management & Agile Ways of Working
- Build and lead a small central enablement team responsible for CoE operations.
- Promote agile delivery principles and cross-functional collaboration in analytics initiatives.
- Contribute to organizational change management and transformation efforts related to data culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data management, including 3+ years in team leadership or CoE execution roles.
- Deep understanding of non-life insurance business models and analytics use cases (motor, property, claims, sales, etc.).
- Demonstrated success in executing governance, tooling, and enablement programs in a federated or hybrid model.
- Strong command of BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), SQL-based data environments, and KPI frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and change facilitation skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working within or alongside agile organizations with tribes and squads.
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata/catalog tools, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Exposure to insurance regulatory reporting, operational dashboards, and performance scorecards.
