We are looking for an experienced and talented Category General Manager for Home Goods which will be responsible for the growth and profitability of the home goods category, overseeing product strategy, sales performance, marketing efforts, and supplier relationships. This role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of the market, and the ability to manage complex operational and financial aspects to ensure the category thrives in a competitive environment.
Main Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (required).
- 3+ years of experience in category management, product management, or a related field, with a proven track record in managing home goods or retail product categories.
- 2 + years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives.
- Experience in a marketplace or a large online store is preferred.
- Ability to define, develop, and execute long-term category strategies that align with market trends and business goals.
- Deep understanding of sourcing, product assortment, and vendor relationship management, specifically in the home goods category.
- A strong focus on improving customer satisfaction and engagement through product assortment, quality, and customer journey enhancements.
- Expertise in negotiating favorable terms with vendors and partners to drive profitability and category growth.
- Understanding of product management systems, digital marketing, and customer experience technologies.
- Strong ability to motivate and lead a team, set goals, provide mentorship, and drive performance.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively to senior leadership.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to quickly adapt to market changes, emerging trends, and new business models.
- Fluency in English, Russian languages.
Job Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Vision: Define and implement long-term category strategy, aligning with market goals, supply and demand, and profitability.
- Market Expansion & Growth: Drive growth by sourcing new products, identifying new niches/brands, strengthening vendor relationships, and optimizing existing offerings.
- Performance Analysis & Strategy: Use data and analytics to monitor performance, market trends, and seller behavior, guiding Category Managers to optimize strategies for growth and profitability.
- Promotional Strategy: Collaborate with vendors on promotional budgets and strategies; work with Head of Growth on seasonal and annual promotional planning.
- Cross-functional Leadership: Work with marketing, operations, products, IT, and customer service to ensure smooth category operations, driving performance improvements when necessary.
- Product Improvements: Partner with CPO to enhance product features (UI, content, catalog, etc.) and ensure the product assortment aligns with customer needs and boosts engagement.
- Seller Retention: Develop strategies to retain top-performing sellers with exclusive benefits, such as access to promotions and rewards.
- Revenue & Profitability: Manage P&L, balance 1P and 3P sourcing, optimize take rates and margins to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.
- Team Management: Lead and manage the team, set goals, and monitor performance
